Andrew Tate has been served with civil proceedings papers at his home in Romania regarding allegations of rape and sexual assault made by four British women.
Lawyers representing the women stated that the alleged victims are initiating legal action against the self-proclaimed “misogynist influencer” at the high court in the UK, following the Crown Prosecution Service’s (CPS) decision not to prosecute him in 2019.
McCue Jury and Partners, representing the women, mentioned that the women accuse Tate, 37, of “raping and assaulting them and will also seek damages for injuries they suffered.”
Three of the four British accusers were part of an investigation by Hertfordshire constabulary, which was closed in 2019.
The law firm stated: “Three of the women bringing the civil action reported that Tate had raped and physically assaulted them to the UK police in 2014-15. Following a thorough four-year investigation, the Hertfordshire police forwarded the case to the Crown Prosecution Service to determine whether charges should be pursued.
“In 2019, the CPS opted against pursuing prosecution… Despite new evidence, the CPS has rejected the recent appeals from the women to reassess its decision. The failure of the criminal justice system has left these women without recourse; seeking civil action is now their final avenue to seek justice.”
The women, who were seeking donations for the proceedings through crowdfunding, expressed gratitude to their supporters on Wednesday.
Tate, a controversial social media influencer, along with his brother Tristan Tate, 35, also face trial in Romania.
A Romanian court recently ruled that a trial could commence in a human-trafficking case, accusing the Tate brothers of rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
The brothers were arrested near Bucharest in December 2022, alongside two Romanian women. All four deny the allegations.
After the proceedings in Romania, the Tate brothers will be extradited to the UK, as Bedfordshire police obtained a European arrest warrant in a separate rape and human-trafficking investigation.
Bedfordshire police stated in March: “As part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of rape and human trafficking, Bedfordshire police has obtained a European arrest warrant for two men in their 30s.”
“We are working with authorities in Romania as part of this investigation and will provide an update in due course.”
A representative for the Tate brothers asserted that they “unequivocally deny all allegations” and were “fully committed to challenging these accusations with unwavering determination and resolve.”
