Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker stirred controversy with remarks made at a recent college graduation ceremony, prompting responses from his teammates Travis Kelce and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
On their popular “New Heights” podcast last week, the Kelce brothers addressed Butker’s comments about Pride Month, the COVID-19 pandemic, transgender individuals, and the role of women in society. Jason Kelce acknowledged that his wife Kylie was “a little frustrated,” particularly regarding Butker’s remarks about women. He defended his wife against social media criticism, emphasizing the equality and partnership in their marriage.
Travis Kelce also shared his perspective, expressing respect for Butker as a teammate despite disagreeing with many of his comments. Travis highlighted the importance of not judging others based on their beliefs, especially religious ones.
While the NFL has distanced itself from Butker’s remarks, the kicker remains steadfast in his stance. During a gathering in Nashville, Butker reiterated his commitment to openly discussing his Catholic faith and opinions, stating that he has no regrets about his decision.
